Professional Development

One of NYEC's core business areas is professional development. NYEC promotes and informs the development of the youth work profession and provides professional development opportunities for emerging leaders in the fields of youth development, workforce development, and education. 

NYEC Introduces Professional Development Efforts in Georgia
In March 2011, NYEC conducted a full day professional development workshop in Atlanta titled "Working With Youth in Workforce Development: An Overview of Competencies and Tools."

Supporting Professional Development in the Greater San Diego Area
While others learn to surf and sail on the inviting waters of San Diego area beaches, youth service professionals in the Greater San Diego area are developing and enhancing their knowledge, skills and abilities.

Roundtable Discussion-Professionalizing Youth Service: Credentials, Certification and Credibility
NYEC and the Institute for Educational Leadership (IEL) convened a roundtable titled, Professionalizing Youth Service: Credentials, Certification and Credibility. 

Youth Service Professionals Knowledge Skills and Abilities Initiative
The National Collaborative on Workforce and Disability for Youth (NCWD/Y) has worked to promote the need for and further grow a professional development system for youth service professionals. The Youth Service Professionals Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (YSP/KSA) Initiative, through its partner, National Youth Employment Coalition (NYEC), has conducted research and developed a framework with related tools and training materials to support this work.
