>> Roundtable Discussion- Professionalizing Youth Service: Credentials, Certification and Credibility

On July 20, NYEC and the Institute for Educational Leadership (IEL) convened a roundtable titled, Professionalizing Youth Service: Credentials, Certification and Credibility. The roundtable was sponsored by the National Collaborative on Workforce and Disability for Youth (NCWD/Y) in conjunction with NYEC and IEL, key partners in NCWD/Youth professional development initiative. NCWD/Y is managed by IEL and supported by the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP).

The roundtable focused on discussions related to research conducted by NYEC on existing credentials; the need to professionalize the field of youth service; the creation of additional pathways to credentials for youth service professionals; and opportunities to inform public policy. Representatives from postsecondary institutions, national credentialing organizations, workforce investment boards, national policy organizations and community-based organizations participated in this roundtable at the Pew Charitable Trusts in Washington, DC.
